Stenosis in the arteries of mammals is a common occurrence, and for many years researchers have endeavored to model the flow blood through stenosed arteries experimentally and theoretically. In this project, pulsatile blood flow through a stenosed artery in two dimensions is considered. The governing equations of blood flow under suitable initial and boundary conditions have been numerically solved using Crank-Nicolson scheme. The blood flow characteristics such as velocity profile, volumetric flow rate and the resistance to flow are investigated. The effects of stenosis size, stenosis shape and amplitude of body acceleration on these flow characteristics are studied.
