To determine the heavy metals in fresh cow’s milk from Debatie Woreda Benishangul gumuz Ethiopia, Fresh cow’s milk samples were collected from three dairy farms of Donben, Berber and Galessa sites of Debatie Woreda Benishangul Gumuz and preserved in a deep freezer 4 0 C.The milk samples were digested by hoot plate using 69-72% HNO3 (Nitric acid) and 70% HCLO4 (per chloric acid).The concentrations of Cr, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb and As were determined by ICP-OES. The result indicated that, the elements Cu, and Pb were not detected in Berber and Donben samples under the study respectively. The concentrations of Cr, Zn, Cd and As were found 0.052-0.064, 0.5618-0.5782, 0.0194-0.0206 and 0.141-0.147 mg/L, respectively in the milk samples of the three sites under study. There is no significant difference in the mean concentrations of Cu between the milk samples of three farms where as that of Cr and Zn shown significantly different in concentration. The concentrations of heavy metals observed in this study, were comparable with some of the reported values in literature. Consumption of beneficial metals through milk is estimated to constitute a minor portion of Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) by FAO, WHO.
