Abstract:
Underground water is one of the more convenient resources, as well as one of the rich compounds on earth and it is vital for the survival of any organism. Understanding groundwater quality characteristics help for water resource management as well as protecting pollutants. This study is conducted to assess the groundwater quality of Bahir Dar city. Grab sampling technics were employed to collect samples in seven groundwater boreholes from July 2020 –March 2021 on monthly basis. A total of 63 samples were collected in nine months from seven boreholes. Samples were tested both on-site and at, Bahir Dar institutes of technology laboratory for selected parameters, basis 45 secondary data was collected from the Bahir Dar water supply and sewerage system office. Statistical, descriptive and inferential methods with applied, for data analysis. GIS and statistical software were applied for generating spatial variation of water quality parameters. From the analysis of the result, water quality parameters of pH, NO3, and total dissolved solids were within the acceptable limit of drinking water quality throughout the study period. From Spatio-temporal analysis, there was a significant variation of pH and DO From the correlation analysis total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity ,total hardness, zinc, and fecal coliform parameters were significantly correlated with turbidity, pH, TDS parameters. Finally, from the result, it is important to give attention to groundwater quality a design monitoring system for further studies. Because of the presence of gudo bahir.Depth with water quality parameters relationships based on the scatter plot EC value was an illustration that decreasing depth and with increasing EC value at sample point GB2and AG1 ,mostly the relations was up and down style at a certain sample points.
