dc.description.abstract	Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) represents a significant healthcare burden worldwide. It is also the major cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. DVT is serious medical condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein which is difficult to diagnose due to identical clinical signs with disease like cellulite and it has complications (pulmonary embolism). Therefore, we proposed an expert system for detection of deep vein thrombosis. In this research, to diagnose this, a structure of a fuzzy expert system has been offered. The proposed fuzzy expert systems analyzed and manipulated based on the symptoms and risk factors for diagnosing the disease. This study is conducted to assist general physicians make decision and also differentiate among DVT, cellulite and pulmonary embolism easily. Fuzzy logic reasoning approach is applied in the study due to it is precise problem-solving methodology which is able to simultaneously handle linguistic knowledge and numerical data. The proposed expert system detects the disease correctly. The purpose of this research is to offer fuzzy expert system in order to diagnose deep vein thrombosis. This system can make distinction between the patients suffering deep vein thrombosis and the patients suffering other disease such as cellulite and pulmonary embolism. The system was evaluated using user interaction technique. By using evaluation criteria domain experts evaluate the prototype of the developed expert system is about the overall performance of the system after they appropriately interact with the system, it was showed that the expert system agreed with human expert opinions in 87.4% performance achieved.	en_US
