Abstract:
Background: Maternal satisfaction with delivery care service is used to measure
the ability of services provided to meet their expectation. Currently, most of the
mothers who got health care and delivery services from the public health hospitals
and specifically at Woldia hospital have complain about the quality of health care
deliveries and they are dissatisfied on delivery service provider. The objective of
this study was to assess the level of maternal satisfaction on delivery service and
associated factors at Woldia comprehensive specialized hospital.
Method: Cross sectional study was conducted on 230 respondents from February
15 April 5. Structured questionnaires that adopted from national maternity service
questioner were used. The collected data were checked for completeness and
consistency before being coded, entered and analyzed using Statistical Package for
the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 and AMOSS 22and to analyze Structural
Equation Modeling (SEM) Smart PLS 3.0 statistical software were used. The
structural equation modeling was applied to identify predictors of mothers’
satisfaction using Smart PLS 3.0.
Result: In this study level of maternal satisfaction on delivery service was 63%.
Hospital structure and obstetric history were directly affecting maternal
satisfaction. The coefficient of determination R
2
=0.727 for the dependent variable
maternal satisfaction which indicates that the exogenous variable hospital structure
and obstetric history together explain about 72.7% of the variation in the dependent
variable Maternal satisfaction.
Conclusion: Hospital structure has strong effect on maternal satisfaction and
obstetric history has a moderate effect on maternal satisfaction. Latent variable
Hospital Structure has strong statistically significant correlations with its
corresponding indicators or manifest variables.
