This study was designed to investigate of principals' leadership style sand teachers'
organizational commitment in Ababa woreda primary schools. Accordingly, four
research questions were formulated to guide the study. The study was designed to
descriptive method. The sample schools were selected from the woreda on the basis of
stratified random sampling method. The participants of the study were 100 primary
school teachers. A systematic random sampling technique was used to select sample
teachers. Closed ended questionnaire was used to gather information. The questionnaire
Ttems contained 5 points Likert scales. The information obtained from only 97 teachers
was then analyzed using various statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, and
,jndependent and one sample t-test and Pearson product moment coefficient. The findings
indicated that teachers in the research area had higher level of organizational
'fimmitment. Mo:eover, findings indicated that principals in the research site apply. both
people and task - oriented leadership styles. But mostly they apply more task - oriented
leadership style than people - oriented leadership style. Finally, the research results
revealed that there was no significant relationship between leadership styles and
teachers' organizational commitment. Eventually, depending on the findings, different
bodies should give attention to the issue of teachers' commitment and educational
leadership during the time of planning; special attention should be given to the
