Abstract:
This thesis deals with the socio-political and economic history of Dangur Warada which is
located in the Northwestern periphery along the Ethio-Sudanese border. Historical studies and
research in Ethiopia for long years centered on the general themes and national historical
phenomena. As a result, no effort has been made to reconstruct the history of the peripheral
areas except some generalized studies conducted at national and regional levels. Thus, it is
towards filling this gap that the study has been conducted. The period of the study covers the
'
years from J 940s-2000. Moreover, developments during the imperial regime have been the other
foc11s of this study. Furthermore, the study discussed major achievements during the Darg
regime (197 4-2000) and under the rule of the Ethiopia People Revolutionary Democratic Front
(E)tDF)from 199l-2000.
