The study initiated to explore the impact of parents education level on students participation in physical education lesson in eastern zone Wukro town,Megabit-30 secondary school. It attempted to assess literate and illiterate families’ views about students teaching and teaching PE subject, Trends of literate and illiterate families’ student assessment, score sheet observation, students’ response on families attributes in regard to PE. To realize the purpose of the study, descriptive survey research design was employed. The total populations of the study were three secondary schools namely Wukro high school, Awllaelo secondary school and Megabit-30 secondary school. Megabit-30 secondary school was selected by a lottery method and from the 1360 total population of students 700 students in grade 10th and 660 students in grade 9th, 100 students selected from Megabit-30 secondary school, their families were 1230 from grade 1-8, 50 above high school by purposive method and the rest 80 illiterate families’ student 50 of them selected by random method that was the total number of literate families’ student in Megabit-30 secondary school only fifty. Mean, cumulative mean, mean difference and grand mean description employed as a statistical tools to analyze the item and the academic performance of students analyzed by using SPSS application version-21 to gate independent t-test, mean, standard deviation, p-value between parents’ student result, in addition, the data, collection tools were observation and academic results from students record and documentation class in first semester HPE transfer sheet recorded in 2010 E.C. Based on the analysis; it found that literate families average and cumulative mean= 2.62 and illiterate families’ average cumulative mean= 2.37 this shows parents did not have much contribution on their children, but literate families better than illiterate families based on fulfilling materials and to encourage in different practical activities. Finally, the study recommended that working cooperatively with having good and continuance communication in between physical education teachers and student’s family and increasing student-family positive interaction to student learning is very important. In addition to this, the school administration and supervisors should take their responsibility in supporting and supervising of physical education lesson. |
