researcher doubt that what effect it brings and how much coaches who works at Ethiopian handballprojects/programs aware its effect. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of core strength training on shootingaccuracy and agility ,explosive powerand speed on U-15handball trainees. All off twenty four (24) handball playerswho was the only handball training project team at Motta town with age U-15 were conveniently selected andparticipated voluntarily in the research. Among those half of them were randomly selected as EG which speciallyprepared core strength training was applied and the rest were CG. Weight and height averages of U-15 EG and CGwere similar which is 43.45 Kg and 43.56 Kg in weight and 1.47m and 1.51m in height respectively. Before training,PT of two groups of tewlev (12) players (IAT agility tests, VJ and SLJ tests ,30m dash speed tests, 6m and 9m shootingaccuracy test) were recorded. The core strength training were implemented on the EG three times a week,40 to 60min a day. Consequently after tewelve weeks of core strength training, each parameters and a little improvement ineach test results were observed and training was continually given by increasing its intensity. with paired sample “t”test at P<0.05 Consequently it was observed that core strength training implemented on junior level players broughtabout significant improvements between post test results of the EG and CG in which duration to complete IATstasticaly sgificant difference EG(18.32±.54seconds)were signficantly higher than the CG (18.40±.44seconds)p=0.001.VJT stasticaly significant difference EG(.825±0.23metre)were significantly higher than theCG(.789±0.26seconds)P=.001. SLJT stasticaly significant differenceEG(1.74±0.78metre) were significantly higherthan theCG(1.59±.20metre)p=0.23. 30mSPT stasticaly significant differenceEG(6.26±.469seconds) were significantlyhigher than theCG(6.73±.469)p=.022 and 9mshooting accuracy insignificant differenceEG(11.92±2.61score) weresignificantly higher than theCG(11.67±1.79)p=.794. As result the investigator recommended that adding corestrength training on their handball training program helps to improve players speed, agility and explosive power. |
