dc.description.abstract Rice (Oryza sativaL.) is a major cereal crop in Fogera plain. However, the yield of the crop is low due to lack of different agronomic management. Among theselack of site specific seed rate and fertilizer level recommendation are the major limiting factors. Hence, a field experiment was conducted in Fogera National Rice Research and Training Center station during main rainy season of 2019 to studythe effectof seed and NP fertilizers ratesto Fogera plain under rain-fed conditions. Factorial combination of three levels of seed rate (80,100, 120 kg ha-1) and five levels of NP fertilizers(0/0, 138/23, 138/46, 207/23 and 207/46 N/P2O5 kg ha-1) were laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Row planting method was used.Important growth and yield data were collected and subjected to analysis of variance by using SAS softwere. The grain yieldsand straw yields were further subjected to economic analysis. Except thousand seed weight, days to heading, days to maturity, plant height, panicle length, leaf areaindex, number of filled grain per paniclewere significantly responding to only the main effect of fertilizer application. The main effect of seed rate affect significantly number of total tillers, number of non fertile tillers, number of fertile tillers number of filled grains per panicle, above ground biomass yield and harvest index. Regarding the interaction effect of seed and NP rates, number of total tillers, number of fertile tillers and harvest index were significantly responding.Gain yields significantly responded to the main effects of fertilizer rates but not to the main effect of seed rate and to their interaction. The highest grain yieldwas obtained from the highest seed rate of 120 kg ha-1 and the highest fertilizer rate of207/46 NP2O5 kg ha-1. The economic analysis also supported this result that the highest net benefits in this experiment was obtained with the combination of seed rate 120 kg ha-1 and 207/46 kg N/P2O5 ha-1 with net benefit of birr 78931.15 ha-1recommended for rice production in the study area..
