dc.description.abstract The objective of this study was to extract, characterize and evaluate performance of pesticide from Neem seed, leaf and mixed seed and leaf using soxhlet extraction method. The process was consisting first collecting and preparing the raw material by removing the moisture by sun and oven drying. Then the dried raw materials was grounded and extracted at different size of (0-0.5) mm, (0.5-1) mm, (1-1.4) mm and (1.4-1.8) mm in diameter and powder to solvent ratio of 1:6, 1:7, 1:8 and 1:9. In soxhlet extraction hexane was used as solvent, though hexane was less dangerous compared to other extraction solvent such as methanol, and chloroform. In the soxhlet extraction, temperature and time were constant to determine the effect of powder size and solute to solvent ratio on yield of the extraction of Neem seed, leaf and mixed seed and leaf oil. The maximum oil yield obtained from (0.5-1) mm in diameter particle size and 1:9 solutes to solvent ratio were (13.33%, 10.17% and 9.16%) for Neem seed, leaf and mixed seed and leaf respectively. From the experiment the characterization of Neem seed and leaf oil was done for the physico-chemical properties like acid value, saponification value, and specific gravity and PH value. The interested activity was performance evaluation of Neem seed, leaf and mixed seed and leaf pesticide and Neem seed pesticide has good performance. en_US
