dc.description.abstract This project work carry out with the objective of production, application and characterization of activated carbon from waste tire in the case of leather industry for dye removal (Methylene blue dye removal). The waste tire was collected and pretreatment of this waste was done .after pretreatment, the tire was carbonized by using pyrolysis for 27 hour. Then the carbonized char was milled and sieved for dimension of 1.7m and it was impregnated by KOH solution for activation. The impregnation ratio was 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5 and activation time 30min, 1:30 hr and 2hr and activation temperature 400,500 and 6000c.After activation the pH of the activated carbon was adjusted to 7 by preparing HCI solution. Characterization of activated carbon was studied extensively. Determination of adsorption capacity, moisture and ash content, percentage of burn of, surface area, percentage of fixed carbon, PH, volatile matter, bulk density, dry density, and volume of void and porosity of the activated carbon were some of the characterization techniques of activated carbon produced from waste tire found in every place as waste. The maximum surface area was obtained 286m2/g at an activation temperature 500 0c, and impregnation ratio 1.3, activation time 1:30hr.And moisture content, ash content, porosity, bulk density, volatile matter, fixed carbon and dry density of the activated carbon was,10.1%,20.855%,0.5498,500kg/m3,6.452%,63% and 154kg/m3respectively.The Activated Carbon are extensively used in the abatement of hazardous contaminants, treatment of municipal & industrial waste water, as catalyst or catalyst support in medicine, & the recovery of valuable metals because it is specially treated to create a highly developed internal pore structure & thus this pore structure is responsible for the superior performance of activated carbons. Our work focused on removal of Methylene blue dye by the produced activated carbon .Using this activated carbon the removal of Methylene blue dye was studied by changing different parameters such as initial pH, time, and concentration was5, 60min and concentration 20mg/g. Finally the experimental data were fitted into both Langmuir &Freundlich isotherms but more Langmuir isotherm was fitted. The activated carbon produced from initial dye concentration & contact time. From the waste treatment experiments the optimum PH, contact waste tire was used for treatment purpose or extensively in removal of Methylene blue dye from waste water. en_US
