Sulfur dioxide is released in varying amount in sugar factories this influenced the environment and human beings. The sulfur dioxide need to be removed in order to eliminate potential health and environmental effects. There has been substantial project recently in the field of absorption technologies to produce low-cost materials that have decolorization capacities. The goal of this project is to decolorize the raw syrup using low cost adsorption system. This project uses raw sugar cane bagasse to remove Colour from syrup solution. Chemically treated sugar cane bagasse was subjected to syrup solution. The project included adsorption isotherm study. The results indicated that the chemically modified sugar cane bagasse performed consistently well in removing Colour with removal efficiencies of 86 % in a syrup solution where the syrup solution were each present at 20g/L, follow a Langmuir isotherm. Chemically modified sugar cane bagasse was able to reduce initial syrup concentration 20g/L by 86 % efficiency at contact time of 90 min, adsorbent dosage 1.5 g and temperature of 50oC .
