dc.description.abstract Dye is the most usable in textile industry for the application of dying, the one which is used in the world is synthetic dye. Now a day there is an interest to produce bio or natural dye from natural plant parts instead of synthetic based dye that a successful solution to increase the efficiency of dye production industry. So, this project was produce a natural dye from local Gesho with controlling the parameter of temperature, time and size for extraction, physical characteristic of extracted dye. In this, thesis, soxhlet extraction method was used and the solvent used for the extraction was n-hexane and the maximum dye yield obtained was 26% at a temperature of 80℃,extraction time of 4 hours and size of 0.25- 0.75mm. Dying with and without mordant was conducted and copper sulphate was used as mordant. The dyed samples were analyzed in terms of color strength and fastness properties. The color strength (k/s) obtained from the dyed fabric was 6.881 using color eye 3001(spectrometer). Light fastness, wash fastness, dry and wet rubbing was tested by solar box, Laundromat (auto wash) and crock meter and the result was 3/5, 4,4and 3/5 respectively. en_US
