Different media broadcasted1 that some parts of the country, especially Oromia, Ethio - Somali and Afar National Regional States faced the worst drought in 50 years triggered by El Nino in 2017. The livelihoods of the regions have exacerbated to survive from time to time. This has created its own devastating impact on the lives of the communities. This included, but not limited to, children seized education; have got malnutrition; faced for different disease; loss of lots of cattle and etc. In line with that most of the women and children have travelled from 3 to 6hours to fetch water and searching graze land for their cattle and other domestic animals and the government and some NGOs try to supply water by using a fluid truck transporting from Dire Dawa. So, to improve the livelihood of the regions, providing a reliable water supply would become one of the basic tools to improve the quality life of the community. Hence, this case study conducted for Wada Barwaqo Kebele of Aware Woreda, Jerer Zone, Ethio - Somalia National Regional States and found from different researchers that the location is reach of drinkable ground water found on a deep aquifer which is from 50 m to 700m depth. Therefore, in this case study by considering the population of the livelihood of the Kebele, its growth due to the project implementation and the water yield capacity of the borehole of the location and other environmental factors, an electric power supply system to drive asynchronous motor of a deep well submersible pump using PV technology has designed. The design has also modeled and simulated using Matlab/Simulink environment to check the functionality of the designed system. In this regard, the achieved result concerning to the design aspect; modeling using SimPowerSystem blocks and simulating the model, the major parameters of the electrical power system has checked and found very good results in terms of technical interfacing of the system and the power supply and demand side. 1Government medias and Different NGO and website reports In addition, it looks financially attractive and efficient in comparison with the current water supply system.
