dc.description.abstract Reliable power supply is the best factor for the economic, social and technological growth of a country. For assuring this the efficient usage and management of available energy is mostly required. The problems of utilities occur several times due to the customer demand increment and system over load, faults, poor maintenance, improper location of protective devices, planned outages, etc. The interruptions highly affected both the society and the utility. This thesis focused on the reliability improvement of 33 kV outgoing feeders using distributed generation (DG) and circuit recloser. The DG systems and circuit recloser mitigation have received more attention recently due to their high overall efficiency and increase reliability. The DG installed depends on the load flow analysis of the load points and installed the DG at most overloaded load point of the feeder. The recloser placed at the midway of the feeder by balancing upstream and downstream customers. The simulation result carried out without DG and circuit reclosers or with DG and circuit reclosers. In different scenarios, the reliability indices value of system average interruption frequency index (SAIFI), system average interruption duration index (SAIDI) and expected energy not supplied (EENS) evaluated using DG and circuit reclosers in the different ways. SAIFI, SAIDI and EENS without DG and circuit recloser were 302.46 (fr/cust.yr), 500.02 (hr/cust.yr.), and 5919.52 (MWhr/yr) values. With DG and circuit recloser SAIFI, SAIDI and EENS values improved to 62.8 (fr/cust.yr), 94.54 (hr/cust.yr.) and 938.9 (MWhr/yr) respectively. en_US
