dc.description.abstract ABSTRACTS This master’s project work is based on pieces of literature review Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) of Solid target. Specifically, the Al alloy target has been studied. When a nanosecond ND: YAG laser-focused on this target plasmas is formed. Followed by an ionized neutral, ions and electrons are emitted. The literature survey made was mainly investigated in the air at atmospheric pressure. Spectroscopic analysis of plasmas evolution of laser-produced plasmas has been characterized in terms of their spectra, electron density, and electron temperature by assuming the local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) and optically thin plasma conditions. The electron density and temperature are usually determined from the selected isolated line stark broadening, and successive ion state intensity ratio of the Boltzmann plot respectively. The values of these parameters were found to change with the aluminum alloy matrix of the fingerprint characteristics emission radiation to distinguish between different aluminum alloy matrices using only one major element (aluminum) without needing to analysis the rest of elements in the matrix. Moreover, it was found that the values of T e decrease with increasing the trace element concentrations in the aluminum alloy samples. It has been observed that the electron density and electron temperature for different value of laser power density. With an increase in laser irradiance, both electron density and electron temperature increase at lower irradiance levels and saturate at higher irradiance levels.
