Abstract
In this project, the calculated energy band gap and particle size of the ZnS nanoparticles from
UV-vis and photoluminescence data using Brus equations were compared. It shown in the
calculation the energy band gap increased and the particles size decreased as the Mn and Cr
dopant concentration increased. The particle size and energy band gap of undoped ZnS
nanoparticle was 19.14nm and 3.59 eV, respectively. However, using UV-vis data, the energy
band gap increased from 3.59 eV to 3.61 eV and the particles size decreased fron 14.82 nm to
12.53 nm as the Mn concentration increased from 2 to 10%. The calculated energy band gap and
particle size of the ZnS nanoparticle from the PL spectra data using Brus equations. From the
calculation data the energy band gap increased and the particle size decreased as the Mn dopant
concentration increased. The particle size and energy band gap of undoped ZnS nanoparticle was
3.66nm and 3.74eV, respectively. However, using PL spectra data, the energy band gap
increased from 3.74eV to 3.766eV and the particle size decreased from 3.66nm to 3.486nm as
the manganese (Mn) concentration increased from 10% to 40%. When the chromium doped in
different concentration the energy band gap and particle size also varies. From the calculated
energy band gap and particles size of the ZnS nanoparticles from UV-visible and
photolumincence data using Brus were compaired. The undoped chromium the energy band gap
and the particle size was 3.804eV and 7.3368nm respectivly. However, using UV-vis data the
energy band gap increased from 3.804eV to 4.026eV and the particle size decresed from
7.3368nm to 5.08nm as the Cr concentration from 0.000% to 0.03%. |
