Abstract:
The main aim of this thesis is to reconstruct the administrative history of Semén Awrajja from
1941-1974. By using archival, oral and written secondary sources, the thesis gives an analysis of
the new administrative structure of the Ethiopia in general and Semen Awrajja in particular. In
the post liberation period, the emperor introduced many reforms to strengthen the central
government and to pursue modernization. Thus Emperor Hailaselasse had established a type of
structural reforms in Semen Awrajja. The administrative rearrangements, the relationship
between government officials and the people in relation to land and taxation, and the security
and justice during the imperial period after liberation are also included in the thesis.
Furthermore the thesis discussed, the infrastructural history of the awrajja is included. Road
construction, communication, pure water, health and educational facilities devaloped in the
awrajja was after liberation.
