Abstract:
Effect of ring and rotor yarn on bed sheet property was studied. For this study to evaluating each bed sheet fabrics made from 34Ne of ring and rotor spun yarns were produced by using ring spinning (Zinser 360) and open end (Ac-S -350) spinning machines have been used. The yarns were produced from 100% Ethiopian cotton from the origin of upper awash and its properties are identified and used for the manufacturing of yarn with two spinning method . Fabrics were woven using a picanol weaving machine, for consistence of results plain woven structure was adopted for all samples with the same parameters. Bed sheet fabric properties on mechanical, physical and comforts were then tested with standard fabric testing equipments such as pick glass, thickness tester, fabric weighting tester, abrasion resistance tester, pilling tester, air permeability tester ,stiffness tester were used and results statistically analyzed. The study results show that, bed sheet woven fabrics made from ring spun yarn exhibit better strength, abrasion resistance, pilling, and thickness. Rotor spun yarn fabric had lower fabric stiffness value than ring spun yarn. The fabric made from ring spun yarn the average thickness and thread density value had been higher than rotor spun yarn. Whereas the fabric made from rotor yarn showed higher air permeability compared to ring yarn bed sheet fabric. Results show that ring yarn fabric has significant influence on resulting fabric properties for the end use. The results indicate that ring spun yarn will be appropriate for the bed sheet
