Abstract:
The main focus of the study is to identify wool fiber harvesting problem and find
solutions in Tarmaber District. Wool fiber harvesting problem in Tarmaber District
very critical which has not given attention by all stakeholders‘ that means
farmers, fiber consumers such as Debreberhan blanket factory, Concerned
Governmental bodies such as Tarmaber District Agriculture office, North shewa
zone Agriculture experts and Amara region Agriculture Bureau and also NGOs.
This crisis affects farmer‘s income and also countries economy. Due to these
reasons the study was done to solve harvesting problems as well as create
market linkage between farmers and factories; to study this collecting, studying
and analyzing the actual data directly from Debre Berhan Blanket factory experts,
Tarmaber District Agriculture experts, sheep husbandry farmers and testing
samples by observing, interviewing, questioning and Fiber testing. This thesis
deals with the various control points and remedial measures in each group to
improve wool fiber harvesting by studying and controlling the problems. The
various factors influencing the wool fiber harvesting problems and their norms
are also discussed. The influence of method of wool fiber harvesting, timing of
wool fiber harvesting and Handling of wool fiber before harvesting and after
harvesting examined together with farmers and experts.
