Abstract:
Quality of suit jacket construction in Molla Garment Enterprise is poor due to
this improper selection of stitch and seam type. In case of the problem these
studies is to investigate the effects of stitch and seam on the quality of suit
jacket construction, besides to this analysis of stitch and seam quality on suit
jacket construction with respect to raw material compatibility.
The main objective of this study is to study the effects of stitch and seam on
the quality of suit jacket construction and propose guidelines to the suit
manufacturers to produce a quality suit jacket. The research design followed
descriptive and experimental survey research design was employed.
A method of data analysis was done in qualitative and quantitative method.
Observation and unstructured interview analyzed in qualitative whereas
experimental result is analyzed in quantitatively.
From the investigating the following finding has been obtained. The enterprise
used 35%wool and 65%polyster plain and 15%wool and 85%polyster medium
and heavy weight fabric used for suit jacket construction. In addition to these
super imposed and lapped seam used from on the seam part whereas in
stitch used stitch type 202, stitch type 301, and stitch type 504 is used for
construction suit jacket. The enterprise using single needle lockstitch machine
and three threads over lock for all operation, but only this machine is not
enough to produced quality product. They also used for all types of fabric
14/90 needle size, but it is highly adverse the quality of product.
These studies mainly propose guideline which is to have alternative solution
to stitch type, seam type, needle size, machine and stitch per inch for the
enterprise to produce quality suit product. For instance seam strength which is
constructed by single lockstitch sewing machine is low strength than single
chain stitch sewing machine.
