Abstract:
Well fit of clothing is crucial for consumer satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to analyze and development standard size chart and contemporary traditional dress for Gonder young women also investigate traditional dress design and fit preference. The target populations are young women who are living in Gonder town in the six districts (Arebegnoch, Maraki, Fasil, Zobli, Azezo and Arada) also between the ages group from 18 to 26 years and used a quantitative approach. This study used anthropometric survey to measure young women body dimensions, through 37 variables. Questionnaire and fit and design analysis of existing traditional dress were employed to collect data and to identify the current size and design problems. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze obtained data by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Frequency tables, percentages, and bar graphs were used to summarize the results. The findings of the study indicated that, the main fitting problems in Gonderea traditional women dress are fabric sagging, vertical and horizontal wrinkle and puckering and above 95% of the respondent they are interested to purchase fashionable design and semi and loose fitted traditional dress. ANOVA test and correlations were also used to determine the relationship between the body dimensions and age group. A step-by -step model of analyzing raw data is used to generate size limits and size charts. This study develop five sizes (XS, S, M, L and XL) for Gonder young women, the coverage rate of the developed sizing systems was over 95%. The result of the existing young women body measurements and developed size chart analysis indicated that there is no significant difference. This study develops a medium (M) size contemporary traditional dress for Gonder young women. And also provides a reference and a guideline for producing different apparels within variety size and design for Gonder young women.
