Fasciolosis is economically an important parasitic disease that affects the productivity of livestock. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of bovine fasciolosis atSekela District.A cross-sectional study was carried out from December 2017 to April 2018. The study variables were four localities Asewa, Bahirzafa, Gish Abay, and Sawsa; sex, age and body conditions. The study cattle were selected by simple random sampling methods and localities were selected by purposively by climatic difference.The faecal samples were collected by using disposable hand gloves directly from the rectum of cattle. The samples were preserved in formalin thenexamined by coprological sedimentation method for the presence and absence of fasciola egg. The data were analyzed by SPSS and the association between locality, sex, age and body condition by Pearson chi-square. The total prevalence of fasciolosis from 410 cattle faeces examined by coprological sedimentation was 30.0%.In the four localities Asewa, Bahirzafa, Gish Abay and Sawsa 31(31%), 42(38.9%), 29(27.4%) and 21(21.9%) cattle were infected by fasciolosis respectively. Among 410 cattle faeces examined 53(29.3%) males and 70(30.6%) females were infected by fasciolosis disease. The prevalence of bovine fasciolosis based on age 41(35%) and 82(28%) foryoung and adult cattle respectively. Based on body condition higher prevalence was in poor 70(45.8%) followed by medium 38(37.6%) then good body condition 15(12.7%). There was no statistical significance difference in locality, sexand age (p>0.05) but significance difference in body condition(0.05).Generally, in this study area the prevalence of bovine fasciolosis was relatively high that would need high preventive and control strategies.
