The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ perception and practice of child behavior management in some selected private kindergarten schools in Bahir Dar town administration. A qualitative research design was used to achieve the purpose of this study. The research sample was composed of 15 Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) teachers and 2 ECCE principals of the two selected private kindergarten academies. These samples were drowning from the total population using comprehensive and availability sampling techniques respectively. The data gathering tools for this paper were interview, observation and document analysis. The interview was conducted with two ECCE school administrators and fifteen ECCE teachers to examine teachers’ perception and practice of child behavior/classroom management. Observation and document analysis were basically conducted in order to examine teacher practice of child behavior/classroom management. Findings of the study revealed that teachers understanding and perception of children misbehavior and their role and responsibility towards managing children misbehavior seems satisfactory. Regarding to teachers practice of classroom/behavior management, it was found that participants have been employing Lee Canter: a high-control perspective of behavior management model explained in White & Coleman, (2000) text book. Finally based on the findings and conclusion of this paper, some helpful recommendations have been suggested by the researcher.
