dc.description.abstract The mineral composition of the three fish samples of.Lake Tana obtained from Tana Fishery .,f Associations such as Oreochromis niloticus (Kile tilapia), Clanas gariepinns (Catfish). lobeobarhusbarbus (Barbus) wen: smdicd. Wei digestion method was used during tile preparation of samples. The mineral content was determined using ~ Ai'IS. the results showed • . <, that the dietary minerals calcium, iron, Linc, and iodine were present in three fish sample specimens .Zinc content in African catfish and Barbus samples was low. The. Fisbes studied arc good sources ol"ti.ietary minerals especially calcium and iron. Results or 1hc research showed that calcium concentration in fish sample meat for tilapia ranges from 0.3074 - (i.(,242 mg:'t,! and iron concentration for tilapia meat ranges Ii-Om 0.0&06-0.19&~ mglg. Zinc concentration in tilapia fish meat ranges from 0.0078 - 0.022'.l mg!g. For catfish meat caif ium concentration ranges from 0.4045 - 0.61 mg/g. iron concentration ranges from 0.0398- 0.1892 mg/g, z inc concentration ranges from 0.0019- 0.0123 rng/g. The barbs fish samples have meat concentration of calcium ranges 0.5048- 0.5894 mg!g, iron concentration ranges 0.0236 - 0.0910 rng/g. zinc concentration ranges O.QOl4 - 0.0063 mg/g. A great variation was found between individuals within s species and with in different species. Tri tilapia fr;h the iodine content of meat is Ii-om 0.0953 .!c 0.0060 ,ugfg greater th~11 in Catfish meal which ranges 0.0506 - 0.038!1µgfg and barbs fish meat from 0.0754 :l- 0.031 µgig. Fish from Lake Tana arc good sources of essential macro and micronutricnts. The Oreochromis ndoticus (Nile tilapia'> is the most nutritious species in Lake Iana in terms of macro and micronutricnts density. en_US
