dc.description.abstract The ultimate goal of this study was to assess the current physicn-chemfr:ul status <Y/ the existing wlter quality from Al! spring, Diga dam and hand dug well sources for human consumption in Pawe woreda and compare with the international and national waler quality guidelines and standards, A total number of ten water samples from taps from .-i!i spring source and two from the hand dug wells at Pawe w~m. eight water samples from taps from Diga dam source and three from hand dug wells at Almu town, and five waler samples from laps from Dig« dam source and one from the h~d dug wells cu Felegesetan» town were collected. Besides, four water samplesfor each from the sources of Ali spring and T>iga dam were? collected. The water samples were analyzed jar some selected parameters such as temperature. pH electrical conductivity, totat dissolved solids, total hardness, total alkalinity; and Ca1-. Mg?•. er, Ne/, K. Fe3 ' Pb' I • . J ion concentrations. Total hardness, iotat alkalinuy, Ca'", Afg ',and CT were determined by titratlon; Na • and K- concerurations by flame photometry; Fe3-, f>h1' ion concentrations by J-:4.AS. Most of the values obtained for the parameters were within the acceptable limit» of •, intemauonal (WHO) and 'national including the Ethiopian guideline except for iron and lead conccntrattons. Temperature varied from 26.37-29.64 °l; pH value variedfrom 6. 71-7.42, EC varied from 158.1-714. 7pSi~w. 1'DS varied from 96.8-356.Jmx!L TH varied from 88.41- • - 328.6mg!r.cci' varied from 13.36-88.38mgil, a concentrution variedfrom ././.63- 76.52mg!L andT» K variedfrom 166.8 - 458. 7mg!f, Na- concentration varied from .f.09- 26 43mx!L and K' concentration varied from 0. /6J-2.22mgil,.
