Abstract:
The purpo~e o'tthis study was fO address" the --inj?uence of selected psycho
educational variables on.self-employment beliefs of TVET students in Amhara
region. To achieve thts goal, survey research ll'as employed. .A total of 200
students, of whom 77 Male and 123 Female were selected using proportional
allocation and random sampling technique from 3 TVET Institutes, selected
purposely, and 1.f. Departments found in Amhara regional state. A
questionnaire was prepared to gather data on psycho- educational variables.

beliefs of TVET students. The results were analyzed by the use of factor
analysis, correlation analysis and t-test. Moreover. multiple regressions were
run to examine thecomposite and, independent effects or predictive strength of
self-efficacy belief entrepreneurial quality, educational value, achievement
motivation, locus of control, and hopelessness on 'self-employment belief, and
with each orher. Tstests' revealed the high prevalence of all the variables.
Regression analyses yielded a joint explain variance of 13%. Besides it was
re~1ea!ed that self-efficacy followed by hopelessness was the best predictor.
