ost education systems are currently under challenge to provide quality education to all
their students, and effectiveness of the schools to meet the challenge has become one of the
most important themes of world education but problem plagued undertaking. This is because
maintaining sustainable and successful students' learning is now requiring attention to out
of- school influences that can challenge learning tasks of students in school. In light of this,
hence, the study is mainly concerned with analyzing and describing parental style, attitude
and practice in supporting and influencing students' learning with particular reference to
Fasiledes General Secondary School in Gondar City. Jn the course of this study, data were
collected by quantitative survey questionnaire from 257 grade 9 and 10 students that were
selected using a systematic random sampling technique and included in the study sample.
Reliability of the instruments was verified using Cronbach alpha, where the closer the
Cronbach alpha is to 1, for higher reliability. The alpha coefficients for this study ranged
between 0. 972 and 0. 991 that were considered to be reliable. So, this output was considered
to be satisfactory for further investigation and analysis in this study. Then, one sample t-test,
correlation and regression were used for the data analysis. Such descriptive analytical
techniques as one sample t-test, correlation and regression were used to describe the level of
parental style) attitude und practice in supporting students' learning. The study also
- attempted to see the relationship among parenting style, attitude and practice in influencing
students' learning, and the effect of parenting style and attitude on parental practice of
supporting students " learning. The findings of this study revealed that there was positive
parental attitude and practice among the students of Fasiledes General Secondary School. It
was also indicated that there was positive correlation among parenting styles (except for
"' neglectful}; attitude and practice. Finally, the study results indicated that parenting style and
attitude affected parental practice. Overall, the study concluded that parents should exhibit
positive interactions with their children through displaying responsive and demanding
