The diversity, relative abundance and habitat association of rodents in Aquatimo forest patch and adjacent farmland was carried out during September 2013 to March 2014 in Machakele Woreda, East Gojjam, Ethiopiathestudy was carried out using Sherman live and snaps traps inforest, bush land, grassland, andmaize farm. The main objective of the study was to assess species composition, distribution, relative abundance and habitat association of rodents in the area. A Total of 374 individuals were captured by live traps in 2352 trap nights and 58 individuals by snap traps in 1200 trap nights. Eight species of rodents and two species of insectivores were recorded during the study period. Therelative abundance rodent species identified were 41.8%(132) Arvicanthis abyssinicuswas the most abundant species, followed by 15.5%(49)Stenocephalemys albipes, 14.6%(46)Mus musculus, 12.3%(39)Mastomys natalensis, 6.3%(20)Lophuromys flavopunctatus, 4.1%(13Grammomys dolichurus, 2.2%(7)Rattus rattus, and 1.9 %(5)Dendromus lovati. The insectivore species were 0.9 %(3)Crocidura flavescens, and0.5 %(2) Crocidura fumosa. More individuals were caught from the maize farms. The highest species richness and diversity were also observed in maize farms. Population size of rodents and insectivores was higher during the dry season than the wet season. There were statistically significant seasonal variations in the abundance of the rodent species. All age groups were represented in the population of the available species.
