Abstract:
Reducing defect is very important for ensuring the quality of products. So manufacturing the quality product is mandatory to sustain in this global competitive market. It is known that rework in the garment industry is quite common but they hamper the smooth production when they go beyond the minimum acceptable level.This research study presents a detail investigation on quality improvement of a Comfort Garment Enterprise by introducing quality tools such as checklist, Pareto analysis and cause and effect diagram. In this organization the researcher worked in sewing section for a particular product (i.e. woven pants).The main purpose of the study is to investigate the defects, which will also reduce the rejection and reworks rate .This work provides the guidelines for the betterment and control of defects in garment industry by using various quality tools, these tools are introduced to the enterprise. Pareto analysis was done to identify the most frequent defects. Root causes of those defects were noticed by cause and effect analysis. Finally some potential solutions are suggested to overcome those causes. So that the researcher has been expected from the suggestions solution of the management to minimize the frequency of defects were provided (defective percent of the product in the factory from 20.7% to below 10%). Necessary recommendations have been added for the advancement of the study and also for the betterment of the organization.
