Dovyalisabyssinica (koshem in Amharic) is an endemic fruit in Ethiopia but now available in various countries in the world. However there is a paucity of information about some of its constituents. In this study, total phenolic content, antioxidant and selected ten metals level of Dovyalisabyssinica fruit grown in Amhara Region were determined and results are reported in its dry weight basis. Among the tested solvents for extraction of phenolic compounds, methanol was found to be the best in terms of its extraction efficiency.UV-VIS Spectroscopy for total phenolic content and antioxidant activity, and ICP-OES for metal level determination were used. FolinCiocalteau and DPPH radical assay methods were used for total phenolic and free radical scavenging activity estimation respectively. A wet digestion method using a mixture of HNO3, H2O2 and HCl in the ratio of (4:3:1) (v/v) was used for extraction of metals from the sample. Results of the analysis revealed that the total phenolic content ranged from 1.05 ± 0.518 up to 9.175 ± 2.56 milligram gallic acid equivalent per gram (mgGAE/g). The methanol extracts displayed good antioxidant activity with an IC50(inhibitory concentration) of 58.761 ± 0.764 mg/mL, indicating that the extracts has good but lower antioxidant potential than ascorbic acid (IC50 5.05µg/mL). The fruit is rich in major and trace metals. The concentration ranges of the metals in dry weight basis in decreasing order were: Ca (8.68 to 12.15mg/100g) >Mg (8.4–11.7 mg/100g) > Fe (2.03-5.39 mg/100g) > Zn (1.485 - 2.389 mg/100g) > Co (0.7-2.28mg/100g)>Mn (0.32-1.41 mg/100g)> Ni (0.1-0.9 mg/100g). The toxic heavy metals Cd and Pb were not detected in all the analyzed samples with the available technique. Ca and Mg were found in highest contents while Fe was the most abundant microelement
