dc.description.abstract In some selected woredas of Awi zone, students with physical disabilities have not access to participate in physical education practical classes. The purpose of this study was to assess the involvement of students with physical disability specifically those associated with leg, hand, both leg and hand and cerebral palsy in physical education practical class of government general secondary and primary schools in some selected Woredas of Awi zone. With survey study design was employed. The respondents in the study were 47 students with physical disability, 10 school principals, and 12 physical education teachers who were purposively selected from Injibara, Ankasha, Adiskidam and Tilili General Secondary and Primary Schools. Questionnaire, interview and observation were used for data collection. SPSS version 20 software was used for data analysis. The data obtained through these tools was analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitatively the analysis is made using tables and charts and qualitatively using words. Findings of the present study shows 85.1% of student respondents answered that they are not involving in physical education practical class. Regarding teachers encouragement, 89.3% of the student respondents agreed that teachers give no encouragement to physically disabled students to participate in the practical session. 83.4% of teacher respondents agreed that lack of adapted equipment and teaching method on the way how to provide opportunities to physically disabled students is one of the major challenges to the teacher’s side. To conclude, lack of materials, equipment’s, school principals and teachers support, inclusive class room and incomprehensive curriculum are found as a challenge which limits the involvement of students with physical disability in school Physical education practical classes en_US
