The purpose of this study was to assess the approaches of teaching new skills in physical education practical session in case of Ataye secondary and preparatory school. Specifically, the study sought to see the teaching learning process of new skills in physical education practical session. Though a descriptive survey study was conducted using student’s sport teachers, and a school director. Students were selected using random sampling techniques while physical education teachers and the school director selected using purposive sampling techniques. The study used an open ended & close ended questionnaire to establish the student’s perceptions of approaches of teaching new skills in physical education practical session. Interview that is structured type was used for both physical education teachers and the school director, to get a relevant data and also non participatory observation were held by the researcher to get first hand information. The data suggest that there is relatively good approach of teaching new skills in physical education practically. As a result the research indicated that there are shortages of teachers, mostly teachers used different teaching methods, motivation of the students, and mostly students are interested to learn physical education through practice, not practiced before the normal class, some of them are not motivated are not active are not interested to the subject and to teachers method of teaching. school directors and each stake holders in teaching new skills in physical education practically. According to the recommendation of this research each stake holders should fill his or her weakness or shortage on approaches of teaching new skills in physical education practically. |
