Abstract:
Peristaltic flow is produced by successive waves of contraction in elastic, tubular structures which push
their fluid or fluid-like contents forward. In this dissertation the Mathematical analysis of peristaltic flow
in a channel is presented.
Abstract
In the Mathematical analysis of two-dimensional peristaltic fluid flow, the fluid is assumed to be
incompressible and Newtonian. The wave number is assumed to be small, and a regular perturbation
method is used to solve the governing equations and a simplified stream junction solution is obtained for
long-wavelength and low Reynolds number. Finally the axial and transverse velocity components and
pressure gradient of the fluid at desired points in the channel are obtained.
