Abstract:
From the very first moment
of entrance III project up to the time of their successful
achievements injury occurs during training/competition. The main purpose
of this study is to
identify the injury incidence in youth soccer participant age and sex related patterns of youth
trainees in case
of Woreta town youth soccer projects. To do this descriptive survey method
was conducted.
In this study 75 youth soccer trainees, 3 coaches, 2 first aid and 4 sports
administrative and experts were participated. The sample size
of the study was selected by
using purposive sampling method. Besides, this adequate amount
of data was collected by
using multiple data collection tools. Predominately questionnaires were used
as a major data
collection instrument. However, in order
to assure the validity of the data that obtained from
questionnaires, interview and field observation was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively.
Generally, the finding
of the current research showed that the prevalence rate of injury is high
in male youth trainees. The lower extremities to be most commonly injured part
of the body,
especially foot\knee joint had the highest percentage
of injuries compared to other types of
injury. Uncomfortable play ground, lack of training, lack of equipment were some of the cause
of injury incidence and majority of the youth projects did not get adequate amount of
competition program, first aid experts did not who gives properly physical treatment. In
addition to this lack of adequate amount of support and the majority of sport administrators and
experts did not support and encourage the youth project adequately a well structured and
organized system. Therefore, from the result obtained it is possible to conclude that sport injury
has a negative impact for soccer development.
