Abstract:
The purpose ofthis study was to investigate evaluation oftalent recruitment criteria and
its input to development of Tesfa Gondar under 13 Football Project players. For this
purpose the following basic questions were raised:
At what extent coach ofTesfa Gondar
football project is applying the sCientific and universal talent recruitment criteria? how
the training
plan implementation delivered by the coach ofTesfa Gondarfootball project,
effective on players physical
and technical development? And what are the major
challenges that encountered
in the talent development process of Tesfa Gondar football
project players?
To address the formulated research questions questionnaire, interview
and techniqual and physical test were usedfor data collection. To analyze the collected
data descriptive statistical analysis such as mean, standard- deviation, one sample
t- test,
paired - sample t- test and Pearson product movement correlation (Pearson r) techniques
were applied.
The findings ofthe study clearly indicated that players agreed their coach
had tested players' Technical/Tactical, Physical, Psychological and Physiological
attributes during selecting them to the Tesfa Gondar
foot ball project. Therefore, it is
concluded that the coach
ofTesfa Gondarfootball project was applying the scientific and
universal talent recruitment criteria to select the project players. However, trainees were
not accessed with the appropriate
and sufficient equipments and facilities. This vvas the
major challenges that encountered
in the talent development process of Tesfa Gondar
football project. From the findings, it is also concluded that the training, delivered by the
coach
ofTesfa Gondarfootball project, was effective on players' height, weight, physical
(flexibility, power/strength
and agility) development and technical (shooting skill)
developments. However, the training delivered by 'the trainer
of Tesfa Gondar football
project was not effective on players' dribbling skill. Therefore, from the results
of the.
study, one can concluded that the skills andperformances offootball players is improved
whenever scientific
and universal talent recruitment criteria and talent development
techniques are applied to select
and develop football players and whenever football
players are accessed with sufficient equipments andfacilities. Based on the findings, the
researcher suggests the following recommendations: a football coach should apply the
scientific
and universal talent recruitment criteria and talent development techniques to
select
and develop football players. Meaning, a football coach should test individual's
Technical/Tactical, Physical, Psychological
and Physiological attributes.
