dc.description.abstract Investigations of the total energy, the stTuctuml and electTOnic pTOper'lies of Lan­ thmmm have been caTTied out in the face-centered-wbic (fcc) and double hexagonal- ) close packed (dhqJ) phases using a genemlized gmdient appm'l;imn,/,ion of the density fu,l/,cl'iurwl theu'!'!) and the ab initiu pscudoputentiu,l we/JwrJ. DiYcw{/ces in /Ju density of states at the Fermi level between these two phases u:!'c pointed oul and discnsscd 7>n detail, The electron-phonon coupling para:meter /\ is found to be 0. .97 and 1. OC for the double he.mgonal-close-packed phase and face ccnleTed- cub'ic phase Tespedively. Fur'lher-more the superconducting critical tempemture is estimated to be 4,87K (dhcp) and 5.88K (lcc) respectively. and are in good agreement with ewerimental values of (ITOund 5. Of,; (rlhcp) and 6.
