dc.description.abstract Ferromagnetism and superconductivity had been thought to be mutually exclusive. Even when superconductivity has been thought as arising from magnetic mediation of paired 'electrons, it was believed that superconductivity occurs in the paramagnetic phase. A great effort has been made to prove this. In 2000 the two phenomena were found to coexist in UGe2, URhG and ZrZn2 in which the same electrons are responsible for both phenomenon. e Superconductivity and ferromagnetic orders are two basic properties of solid state materials which have been studied intensively for many years. Magnetism is by now well understood and the basic mechanisms have been investigated. Superconductiv ity on the other hand is not yet well understood. Some of the basic features were explained in the fifties by Ginzburg and Landau, by Bardeen, Cooper and Schrieffer. However, the basic mechanism of superconductivity in High-T materials is a mystery yet awaiting a solution. The interplay between superconductivity and magnetism is studied not only because they are competing states, but also because they resolve a fundamental problem in the physics of superconductivity. c In this study, I attempted to investigate theoretically the coexistence of supercon ductivity and ferromagnetism in UNi 2 Al 3 . keywords: Green's function coexistence, superconductivity, ferromagnetism, critical temperature. en_US
