dc.description.abstract Agawmeder was the main political, socio-economic and cultural centes of the Agaws of Gojjam. Prior to the advent of Agaws of Gojjam , it was inhabited by /~· Gumuz. In the region, rich and unintacted natural resources allured the Agaw settlers and different Gonderian kings to the region. It was also an important seat "of British consul and most significant center of patriotism in the 193 5 to 1941. It was prominent battle field of patriots and Italians that demolished many cultural elements of the Agaw churches. The Agaw sense of belongingness to the founding fathers of Agawmeder consolidated communication, respect ion, religious co-existence and social works. The central figures grew among Agaws principally were holly cross celebration . , and horsemen association. Of course, all Agaw cultures undergone considerable change includes hunting, avoiding backward worships and views on handicrafts in the 20th century. en_US
