dc.description.abstract	Road traffic accident is caused by several factors such as human, vehicles and environmental factors. This study was conducted to assess the major causes and factors that contribute to the occurrences of road traffic accident in Bahir Dar City. In conducting r:? this study, different techniques have been used to collect the data. The data was analyzed by using the statistical software and the technique of analysis made include descriptive and multiple logistic regressions. These statistical analyses were used in order to determine the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings of this study indicates that road traffic accident is a serious problem in the city of Bahir Dar. The problem of Road Traffic Accident is highly related to the increase of number of vehicles and population growth in the city. It also ensures that the mistake committed by· drivers due to negligence such as lack of giving priority to pedestrians on crossings and lack ofrespecting the law, speedily driving and inadequacy training were the contributing 0 .factors for the incidence and holds the lion's share. In addition to this lack of commitment among traffic police to assume their responsibilities and poor habit of pedestrians regarding utilization of crossing roads such as Zebra. However, as it is learned from the findings of this study, respondents confirmed that awareness creation education did not take about RTA prevention. Generally we can conclude that drivers C.speedily driving and lack of awareness creation were the major cause of RTA. Based on the finding of this study, strict speed limit should build and road safety education should give to all classes of the community.	en_US
