dc.description.abstract Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted significant attentions as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional silicon-based photovoltaics. However, the widespread application of current high performance DSSCs limited by the high cost and scarcity of standard ruthenium-based sensitizers. Consequently, developing sensitizers using earth-abundant, non-toxic metals like iron is a promising strategy for sustainable energy conversion. In this study, two novel iron (III) complexes, Na9[Fe(R)6] and Na5[Fe(phen)(R)4] (where R=resorcinolate and phen=1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized as potential sensitizers. The structures and optical properties of the complexes were investigated using UV–Vis, FT-IR, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Cyclic Voltammetry CV). The optical and electrochemical energy gaps were determined to assess the suitability of the dye for solar energy conversion. Furthermore, DSSCs were fabricated using these complexes, and their photovoltaic performance was evaluated through current -voltage characterization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The device sensitized with Na9[Fe(R6 ] and Na5[Fe(phen)(R)4 ] exhibited an enhanced performance, achieving a short circuit current density of 31.67 μAcm-2, 33.33 μAcm-2, open circuit voltage of 387mV, 470mV, fill factor of 32.01 %, 25.23 %, and performance efficiency of 3.924%, 3.952%, respectively. These results demonstrate the potential of functionalized iron(III) complexes as low-cost sensitizers for DSSC applications. en_US
