Construction material supply chain management refers to the processes, systems, and practices used to manage the flow of materials in the construction industry. It also includes managing the relationships between various parties within the supply chain including manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, owners etc. Late delivery of construction materials and components has been is the main causes of delay and cost overrun in major building construction projects. Based on this, the aims of the research is to study on material supply chain management on project performance in public building construction projects in Gondar city. The population for this research includes the public building construction projects. Mixed research design was employed. Both primary and secondary sources of data were used. Five minutes field rating, historical document review and questionnaire was used. Unstructured Interview was used for strengthen the questionnaire and for the framework validation. Census sampling was used to select the sample. Analysis was done by SPSS v. 20. Descriptive statistics which include percentage and tables were used to present the data. Linear correlation was used to test the hypothesis designed for the study. Factor analysis was used to group factors in order of potency and to also eliminate variables with low variance. The finding indicates that, project performance can be achieved by properly implementing of CSF of material supply chain management because it have a positive strong correlation to productivity, cost and time performance of a project and in reverse, BF supply chain management have negative strong correlation to productivity, cost and time performance of a project. Finally, supply chain management framework was developed. The study concludes that CSF for supply chain management in construction projects was reviewed leading to the identification of 22 BF and 30 CSF. The need for a deeper understanding of the interrelationships among these CSFs and how they can be used to achieve project performance. The main recommendations of this research is the construction industry should use the proposed framework 4.2 for managing the material supply for project performance and Construction professionals should be dynamic in material supply as important and gaining new information for project performance.
