dc.description.abstract In this work, two Fe(III) complexes with formula of [Fe(HTA)(H2O)4]Cl2 and [Fe(phen)(HTA)(H2O)2]Cl2 were synthesized from FeCl3, 1,10-phenanthroline monohydrate and tartaric acid. The synthesized complexes were characterized using halide test, solubility test, molar conductance measurement, melting point measurement, and spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV-Vis) analysis. Based on the analytical data and spectroscopic data octahedral geometry were proposed for both complexes. Furthermore, the synthesized metal complexes were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Gram-positive (staphylococcus aurous, Staphylococcus epidermis) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella Pneumonia) bacteria. The results of the in vitro antibacterial activities were compared with the commercially available antibiotic drugs TTC. The finding of comparative study demonstrated that the newly synthesized complexes, [Fe(HTA)(H2O)4]Cl2 and [Fe(phen)(HTA)(H2O)2]Cl2 exhibited significantly lower antibacterial activity against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria’s strains than the commercially available antibiotic drugs TTC en_US
