dc.description.abstract The yield of potato has been decreasing in Ethiopia from time to time due to the declining supliy of inorganic fertilizers. Thus, a field experiment was conducted in at Yilmana Densa district, to evaluate the effect of human and cattle urine as a fertilizer on the growth and tuber yield potato. The experiment consisted of four treatments (control, recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer, cattle and human urine) arranged in a randomized complete block design. The treatments were assigned to each plot randomly by lottery method and one variety of potato was used on irgation. Growth parameters were recorded 60 and 90 days after planting and expersed to centimeter and Yield and related traits data were collected after harvest, and expersed to g,kg and ton. The majority of the growth, yield, and quality contributing factors examined in this experiment were significantly impacted by cattle urine, according to the trial's results.Out of all four treatments, the application of cattle urine performed better in terms of growth, yield, and marketable yield than the other treatments. Conversely, the crop handled by T1 (control treatment) demonstrated the best performance in terms of non-marketable yield . The application of cattle urine produced the highest yield of tubers (2.99t ha-1 ).This output was statistically equivalent to that of the application of inorganic fertilizer (2.79 t ha-1 ). The T3 (the application of cattle urine) showed the best plant height from other treatments.Whereas, control performed the lowest. From this study, it may be concluded that cattle urine had a significant positive effect on increasing potato yield and improving the processing quality of potatoes when cattle urine was applied. the maximum gross margin 105,595 ETB ha−1) with a 70.66% gross profit margin and the highest benefit-cost ratio (3.40) was observed in the application of cattle urine treatment Finally, cattle urine may make a remarkable contribution to reducing the application of inorganic fertilizers.
