dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of physical fitness training on some selected skill performances of male football project players at Andabet woreda. For this study, quasi-experimental research method was used. 24 male football players of the Andabet woreda football project were taken purposively as a sample study. Control group (n = 12) did not perform this selected fitness training; both groups undergone normal football training program. The experimental group (n = 12) performed physical fitness training three days per week for three months on the Illinois agility drill, squat jump, and bounding speed dribbling. And both groups had taken pre- and post-tests. So, all subjects participated in three selected football skill performance tests: dribbling, control speed dribbling, and power shoot. The data were analyzed and compared with the help of statistical procedures in which arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and paired t test were used. The level of p≤0.05 is considered a significant level. The result displayed that dribbling test experimental group MD=-1.66667 and P=.000 and control group MD=.16667 and P=.504, control speed dribbling test experimental group MD=1.11083 and P=.000 and control group MD=.00333 and P=.979 and power shooting test experimental group MD=-1.75000 and P=.000 and control group MD=.5000 and P=.139. The results of the study displayed that 12-week physical fitness training is more effective in increasing the dribbling and shooting skills of football players in Andabet woreda. Generally, this study concluded that physical fitness training had a significant effect on the project player’s football skill performance through the selected football skill tests. Hereafter, physical fitness training is effective and beneficial for the improvement of players’ football skill en_US
