dc.description.abstract Introduction: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is common during pregnancy due to hormonal and anatomo-physiological changes that facilitate the growth and dissemination of bacteria in the maternal urinary tract, which if not controlled well, can adversely affect both the mother and the fetus. Emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among uropathogens is increasing, especially in resource limited settings. However, little is known about the bacteriology of UTI among pregnant women in Hargeisa. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify and test the AMR profile of the uropathogens, to assess the Extended Spectrum β Lactamase (ESBL) producing isolates among pregnant women at Edna Adan Hospital (EAH), Hargeisa, Somaliland en_US
