dc.description.abstract This study assessed the spatio-temporal variations levels of some selected heavy metals in drinking water sources Bahir Dar city. There are fifteen samples were collected with in dry and wet seasons from different sampling sites. The levels of As, Cd, Cr and Pb were determined using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS).The concentration levels of heavy metals in water samples from the sources of Bahir Dar city drinking water in the dry seasons recorded were 0.026, 0.017, 0..009 and 0.009 mg/L from S1, S3, S9 and S15 respectively (Cd), and 0.035, 0.044, 0.026, 0.009, 0.026 and 0.017mg/L Cd in wet season from S4, S5, S6, S11, S14 and S15 respectively. 0.064, 0.064, 0.0642 in dry and 0.321, 0.192, 0.19, Cr mg/L in wet season from S1, s2 and s11 respectively. And 0.152 and 0.0720 (Pb) in dry and wet both obtained from S13 sample sites respectively. Generally, levels of Cd, Cr and Pb in water sources of Bahir Dar city drinking water were exceeded the World Health Organization (WHO) stipulated limits of 0.010 for Pb, 0.003 for Cd and 0.05 for C in mg/L for drinking water. From the recorded result showed, the level concentration of Cr, Cd and Pb and the number of recorded sites in wet season higher than the dry season. Arsenic concentration was not detected in all sample sites. The findings suggest that drinking water from these sources were relatively contaminated by Cr, Cd and Pb. Therefore, it should be properly enlightened on the dangers associated with exposure to heavy metals to prevent them from polluting water bodies en_US
