This research work investigating the effect of treatment and concentration of chopped False Banana Fiber on mechanical properties of polypropylene matrix. The chopped false banana fibers were modified by Aleo vera-gel after 5% NaOH treatment for 12 hours at room temperature and 1% acetic acid was used for neutralizing the remaining NaOH. Then false banana fiber reinforced polypropylene composite plate was manufactured with 10, 20, 30, and 40 percent weight of chopped False Banana Fiber as a reinforcement and polypropylene as a matrix and mechanical properties like impact, compressive and three-point bending tests were investigated. Sample preparation has been done based on ASTM standard D695-15, ASTM D256-10, and ASTM D7264-15 for the compressive, impact, and three-point bending test respectively. Three-point bending and the compressive test were carried out using the universal testing machine and the Izod impact test machine was used for impact testing. From the result, it is found that mechanical properties of false banana fiber reinforced Polypropylene composite has the maximum average compressive strength of 17.2 MPa, the average impact strength of 9.7 J/cm2, and average bending strength of 12.109 MPa at 30 percent weight of False Banana Fiber that are treated with Aleovera jell and maximum average compressive strength of 12.1 MPa maximum average bending strength of 9.97 MPa was recorded at 10 percent of weight of False Banana Fiber however, average impact strength of 34.1 J was gain at 20 percet of False Banana Fiber this is for only NaOH treatment. Validation of the experiment results was done comparing with prior works and it can be found that impact, compressive and bending results are satisfactory at 30 percent weight of False Banana Fiber Polypropyelne composite for Aloe Vera treated one. |
