dc.description.abstract	This thesis is the study of the socio-economic, religious, political, and cultural history of Soro warada in Hadiya zone of the Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples Regional State. By using archival, oral and written secondary sources, the thesis gives a historical analysis of the socio-economic, political. cultural and religious history of the wdrdda. It also deals with the participation of the people of Soro Warada in defending their country against the Italian invasion and the sacrifice paid by the patriots of the warada during the period of Italian occhpation. The administrative rearrangements, the vrelation ship between the government officials and the people in relation to land and taxation are also included in the thesis. The thesis also deals with the reforms of the Derg such as land reform, the establishment of Producers' Co~ratives(PCS), .. Villagization Program and Edget Bahebret Yesira Zamdca/Development Through Cooperation Campaign) and the response of the people to these reforms.Another important issue analyzed in the thesis is the history of religion and religious institutions in Soro warada , whch include the Fandanno traditional religion , the introduction and expansion of Orthodox Christianity, the introduction and spread of Catholic and Protestant Christianity.In addition to these the thesis deals with the history of infrastructural development in Soro warada which include road construction, water supply, health and education facilities.	en_US
